Council of Europe: Monitoring Group on the Anti Doping Convention
EU Athletes participated in the 34th meeting of the Monitoring Group as an observer alsongside representatives of COE member states, national and international Anti Doping Organizations as well as International Sports Organizations.
The main item on the agenda of the meeting was the upcoming revision process of the World Anti Doping Code. EU Athletes made a strong statement on behalf of their members, to respect fundamental rights of athletes under the Anti Doping System, recreate a balance between infringements and effectiveness of the system, improve the transparency on various levels and shape a level playing field in international sports. Also EU Athletes stressed the need for a stronger participation and influence of athletes in the restrucring of the WADA System.
