SP.IN Issues
Who is SP.IN?
The players of the BBL and German National team are SP.IN. During our first year (2006) it was necessary to demonstrate the number of members during a dispute with the BBL. A notary certified 119 members in July of 2006. This number has stayed relatively constant taking into account normal fluctuations due to player turnover every season in the BBL. SP.IN is governed by three commitees, elected by the members at the annual meeting - the Executive board, the BBL Players Committee and the National Team players committee.
SP.IN Executive Board
Johannes Herber, Sven Schultze and Gordon Geib were elected at the 2009 annual meeting in Heidelberg. They replaced Pascal Roller, Denis Wucherer and Harald Stein. SP.IN thanks Pascal, Denis and Harald for their service. The Executive Board represents SP.IN in the public and runs the day to day business of the organization.
BBL Players Committee
Gordon Geib, Dominik Bahiense de Mello and Artur Kolodjziewski were elected during the 2009 annual meeting in Heidelberg to represent the BBL players in this committee.
National Team Players Committee
Johannes Herber, Jan Jagla and Sven Schultze were elected by the National team members to represent them during the 2009 training camp in Leverkusen. Jan and Sven replaced Mithat Demirel and Patrick Femerling who SP.IN thanks for their service.
General Secretary
Former NBA and BBL player, Walter Palmer, was selected by the Executive Committee as SP.IN's first General Secretary. His responsibilities include running the day to day business, visiting the teams, coordinating with legal counsel Juergen Leister and providing service to individual members. He is also represents the Executive Board at meetings of the European Basketball Players Association (UBE).
