SP.IN spieler initiative is a trade union for professional basketball players, like the NBA Players Association and GIBA in Italy, that was set up to engage in collective bargaining under German law.  It is a not for profit, democratic organization, founded by 12 German National Team players in September 2005. Its mission is to support professional basketball players in Germany and represent their collective interests.
